The artist Carlos Vega Fáunez wins the III Almuzara Painting Prize for his work ‘Velázquez @El Prado’

The Chilean artist Carlos Vega Fáunez This Thursday he was awarded the III Almuzara Painting Prize for his work ‘Velázquez @El Prado’, endowed with 7,500 euros.

The objective of this award, as the publisher assures, is to promote art and culture through this artistic manifestation.

The jury highlights that the winning painting, ““It stands as a testimony of our time and summarizes the research carried out by the artist on the current phenomenon of cultural consumption.”

Likewise, in the opinion of the deciding body, the merit of the work lies in “the neat workmanship, the magnificent use of color and the great mastery with which this painter has resolved the glazes, of a genius of the baroque master, fused with the classic and modern.

For its part, Almuzara has also recognized the work of the painter Miguel Repollés Martínez, ‘Night reading’who has been awarded a second prize. In addition, the jury has selected twelve works that will be exhibited at the Almuzara headquarters in Madrid, from December 16 to 22.

‘Dark Night’, by Manuel Enrique Balón Villar; ‘Reading Nerea’, by Ixone Gil Bengoechea; ‘Three Witches’, by Ángel Bustamante Collado; ‘Five hours, a duel’, by Carmen Conde González; ‘Velázquez @El Prado’, by Carlos Vega Faúndez; ‘Always the books’, by José María Rodríguez Zaliaño; ‘Between books’, by David Martínez Calderón; ‘Nocturnal Reading’, by Miguel Repollés Martínez; ‘The protagonist role’, by José Antonio Martín Gutiérrez; ‘Between the lines’, by Enriqueta Cañete Leyva; ‘La Celestina’, by Alejandro Galán Vázquez; and ‘The Flowers of Evil’, by Carmelo Rubio López, will be the works exhibited.

The jury was made up of Desiderio Delgado, president, and Cristina Mato, Lorena Pizarro, Magdalena Haurie, Amalia Parra, Pilar López and Manuel Pimentel as members, and Juan Ramos Pemán as secretary, without vote.
