The Golden Globe Science and Technology Award was awarded to 10 young scientists on the evening of November 8. This year, the youngest person to receive the award is Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Vinh, 30 years old, working at the University of Health Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. He is also the only representative of the field of Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology to be awarded.
The organizing committee assessed that the 10 winning scientists all have excellent achievements, have patents, useful solutions and are the authors of many high-quality international publications in the Q1 category, winning many awards in and abroad.
Each winner receives the “Creative Youth” Badge of the Central Youth Union, the Golden Globe Cup, a Certificate and a cash reward of 20 million VND.

This year, the award was launched in early June and will last until mid-August 2024. The organizing committee received a total of 69 applications, in 5 fields of Information Technology, digital transformation and automation, Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Technology, and New Materials Technology. Each field has 1-3 winning representatives.
Most candidates are PhD candidates, working at universities, the rest study and research in France, USA, Sweden, Singapore… Regarding age, nearly 18% are under 30 years old, the youngest 22 years old, in the field of New Materials Technology.
Many individuals have patents, utility solutions, many high-quality international publications in the Q1 category, and many domestic and international awards and medals.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet said that the scientific research and creativity movement among youth, students and young scientists has developed strongly each year. Therefore, the Golden Globe Awards are constantly innovating, adding content, expanding the scope, subjects and areas of consideration, in order to develop high-quality human resources.
Mr. Triet said that after receiving the award, many young scientists have become leaders, managers, and play important roles in science and technology agencies and organizations; or are founders or leaders of large-scale technology enterprises… Regardless of their position, they continue to affirm their research capacity with valuable scientific works.
This year, the Central Youth Union also awarded the 2024 Vietnam Science and Technology Female Student Award to 20 students from 13 universities. Among these, the largest number are Polytechnic University and Ho Chi Minh City National University with 5 students.
Each winning female student was awarded a certificate of merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, along with a bonus of 5 million VND.
The Golden Globe Award is chaired by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, and has been awarded annually since 2003. The award is organized to discover and honor scientists of no more than 35 years old. years old, with excellent achievements, thereby developing talents in the field of science and technology. After 21 years of organization, 214 outstanding individuals have been honored.
