Learn About, Google’s AI tool to facilitate personalized learning

Google has begun testing Learn About, a new platform that is part of the Google Learning experiments and that serves as a conversational tool to provide users with a form of personalized learning, through information driven by Artificial intelligence (IA).

Within the framework of the Google Learning platform, the technology giant regularly works on the development of different experiments and tools that, based on AI, They are designed to help students and teachers in the learning processes.

In this sense, Google has recently begun testing a new experiment called Learn About, which is based on a tool with a conversational format that will help users learn about new topics and deepen their understanding.

Specifically, as defined by the company on the Learn About page itself, It is an “adaptive, conversational and AI-powered learning companion”with the ability to adapt to the “unique curiosity” of each user and their learning objectives.

Thus, with Learn About, student or teacher users can ask questions about any topic and even upload files such as videos or photographs to explore related information. To do this, they must make queries via text, and related results driven by AI will be returned, that is, with a functioning similar to that of a conversational ‘chatbot’.

Nevertheless, Google has stressed that in the case of this new experiment, the results offered by AI are personalized based on the learning needs of each user.. This is because, as he has clarified, Learn About admits both questions on very broad topics and more specific questions and, in each question, it adapts to the user’s specific level of knowledge so that it is easier to understand the topic being discussed. .

In addition, it also offers other forms of learning, for example, with guides and interactive questions on the topic covered. In this case, if the user answers the questions wrong, Learn About offers the explanation of the answer for a better understanding. Likewise, it also uses illustrative images and videos, as well as sharing related articles.

To use the Learn About experiment, users will need to sign in with their Google account and type the topic they want to learn about in the main search box. However, this is an experiment in testing, so it is only available to some users.
