Rome is preparing to welcome a double event dedicated to the world of video games: the opening of GAMM – Game Museum, the largest video game museum in Italy, and Checkpoint – Festival of Interactive Experiences, a festival that celebrates its cultural and artistic. GAMM, which will open its doors to the public on November 30th in Piazza della Repubblica, will be managed by Kabuto, a start-up with over 25 years of experience in the sector. GAMM presents itself as an immersive and interactive space of approximately 700m2, divided into two levels and three thematic areas.
The museum, open 7 days a week, will offer a journey through the history of video gaming, from its origins to the present day, combining cutting-edge digital content with a collection of unique pieces. GAMM is aimed at a wide audience, from enthusiasts to the simply curious, from families to schools, from industry experts to anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of this media. The opening of the museum will be anticipated by Checkpoint – Festival of Interactive Experiences, scheduled for 28 and 29 November at the Casa del Cinema in Rome (Largo Marcello Mastroianni, 1), in the Gardens of Villa Borghese.
The festival, with free entry, will offer two days of talks, thematic panels, workshops and dissemination activities dedicated to the artistic and cultural value of video games. Checkpoint is aimed at industry professionals, independent development teams, enthusiasts and the curious, offering a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the artistic and cultural aspects of the gaming world. Among the notable guests, the American pioneer Don Daglow, one of the first video game developers in the world, and international partners such as Women in Games. On November 30th, Checkpoint will move to Piazza della Repubblica for the official inauguration of GAMM, creating an ideal bridge between the festival and the museum.
