According to Ukraine, Kiev was not informed in advance about the Trump-Putin telephone conversation

Kyiv was not informed in advance about the telephone conversation between the presidents of the United States and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Giorgi Tikhi, told Reuters.

“The information that the Ukrainian side was informed about the alleged call in advance is false. Therefore, Ukraine could not approve or oppose the call,” Tikhi noted.

Earlier, The Washington Post, citing sources close to Trump, wrote about the phone conversation of the newly elected US president with the Russian president, noting that Kiev was informed about the phone call with Putin and had no objections.

The Washington Post, citing anonymous sources, wrote that during this telephone conversation, the US president called on his Russian counterpart not to escalate the war in Ukraine, expressed interest in negotiations “on the issue of the early resolution of the war”, and also reminded about the significant military presence of Washington in Europe. :

Earlier, Trump also had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and, according to the media, said that he would support Kiev.

During the pre-election campaign, Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that if he is elected, he will find a solution that will allow ending the war in Ukraine within a day. At the same time, Trump has never clarified what specific steps he is going to take.
