Athletico is definitely experiencing drama in the final stretch of this Brasileirão. Furacão lost again in Série A, last Saturday (9), to São Paulo, at Morumbis, and further increased the risk of relegation in the competition.

With the new setback, the team led by coach Lucho González fell to 18th place, with 34 points — three points less than Juventude, the first team outside the relegation zone.

Athletico, however, has one game less than its opponents, which will be held next Saturday (16), at the Ligga Arena, in a delayed match from the 19th round, against Atlético-MG.

With 12% success rate, Lucho responds about leaving Athletico

Lucho González does not think about leaving his position as coach of the Athletico. This was what the Argentine commander made clear after the 2-1 defeat to São Paulo, another with a late goal conceded.

“In my head, that’s not the case. Of course, it’s a start that I didn’t imagine. Defeats always hurt and particularly, it hurts me a lot because of how the group commits itself and works on a daily basis”, said the coach.

Lucho has recorded seven defeats in eight games (see the list at the end of the text) since he took over, which represents a 12.5% ​​success rate. There are 16 goals conceded and eight scored. In other words, the red and black team has an average of conceding two goals (and scoring one) per match.

Wanderlei Silva will give free beer after Athletico’s defeat
