At least 40 dead in new Israeli attacks in Lebanon

The Lebanese authorities have reported this Thursday that at least 40 people have died in different attacks carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) against various points in the Lebanese geography within the framework of the Israeli offensive against the Shiite militia party Hezbollah. .

The majority of the victims are concentrated in the governorate of Baalbek-Hermel, where the attacks leave dozens of victims, as acknowledged by both the regional governor, Bachir Khodr, on their social networks, and the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health itself.

In the city of Baalbek, at least twelve deaths have been confirmed and it is feared that the toll could increase as work to remove debris progresses, while in the town of Al Shaab another eight deaths have been recorded so far. The number of injured could exceed thirty.

On the other hand, the Israeli Army has launched attacks against several towns in the east, where another four people have died, according to the aforementioned Ministry. In other cities in the south, such as Arbsalim, at least 17 deaths have been confirmed, including health personnel.

Lebanese health authorities reported this Thursday that at least 3,386 people have died and more than 14,400 have been injured as victims of attacks carried out by Israel over the last year.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health has detailed that Wednesday’s attacks left a toll of 21 dead and 73 injured, most of them in Mount Lebanon (16 dead and 18 injured), while Nabatiyé, in the southeast, is the second most affected area. affected with five dead and 27 injured.

The Israeli Army unleashed a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after several weeks of intense bombing and attacks against the country, including the aforementioned coordinated explosion of thousands of ‘pagers’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ linked to Hezbollah, after more than eleven months of fighting with Hezbollah in the border area.

The resurgence in hostilities is part of the clashes that began more than a year ago, after Hezbollah attacked Israeli territory a day after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip, where more than 43,700 people have already died.
