US President-elect Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate Robert Kennedy Jr. for the post of Secretary of Health.

“I am pleased to announce Robert Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services,” Trump’s team said in a statement.

The president-elect said he hopes Kennedy Jr.’s department will “restore the tradition of gold standard scientific research” to end the nation’s chronic disease epidemic.

70-year-old Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. is a lawyer by training and an activist in the anti-vaccination movement.
