Threads will incorporate ads starting in January 2025, according to The Information

The ‘microblogging’ platform Threads,owned by Meta, will incorporate advertising at the beginning of next year and will begin its deployment with a small number of ads starting in January, as The Information recently announced.

A few weeks ago, the company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, had acknowledged that the platform was in the process of becoming its “next social app,” while Meta Platforms’ CFO, Susan Li, also noted that the time spent using it continued to increase.

At the end of October, Threads already had around 275 million daily active users and more than a million new daily registrations; a figure that showed that it was continuing to grow more than a year after its launch, in July 2023.

The social network seeks to continue growing with new strategies, such as incorporating advertisements, as The Information has now learned, which has announced that Meta will integrate advertising at the beginning of next year, beginning its deployment in January.

This implementation, which will be gradual, will begin first with “a small number” of ads in the first month of the year, as Engadget has anticipated based on what was anticipated by The Information. This medium has also recalled that when the application registered 200 million users, Zuckerberg suggested that making money with it would be a “multi-year” effort.

Li, for his part, noted that they did not expect the microblogging platform “to be a significant driver of 2025 revenue at this time.” A Meta spokesperson spoke along the same lines, insisting on Its priority “is to generate value for the consumer above all” and that there are currently “no ads or monetization features on Threads.”
