Media: Lebanon sent the US a response to the proposal for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah

According to Kan, citing the Lebanese TV channel Al-Jadeed, the Chairman of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, conveyed to the US Ambassador in Beirut Lisa Johnson a response to the ceasefire proposal made by the American emissary Amos Hochstein.

The Lebanese politician coordinating the negotiation process is said to have expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement within a few days, if nothing unexpected happens.

Al-Jadeed emphasizes that the agreement is based on UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Based on its own sources, the channel refutes reports that Russia will become one of the guarantors of the agreements reached.

The publication reports, citing Israeli sources, that this issue was discussed at Mar-a-Lago at a meeting between Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, a confidant of Benjamin Netanyahu, with Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, who was his father-in-law in the last term special envoy to the Middle East.

“There is an understanding that Israel will present Trump with a gift… That mutual understanding will be reached on the Lebanese issue in January,” an Israeli representative told the publication. Dermer’s press secretary limited himself to noting that a wide range of issues were discussed during the meeting.
