The killer of the Israeli diplomat: will the terrorist sentenced to life imprisonment be released?

The French Prosecutor’s Office for Terrorism announced today (friday) that he will appeal the court’s decision to approve the release of the Lebanese terrorist George Ibrahim Abdullahwho was convicted of involvement in the murder of the Israeli diplomat Jacob Bar Siman Tov and the American diplomat Charles Rayand the attempted assassination of the American consul Robert Humeall this in the early 1980s.

According to the lawsuit, although he was not convicted of the murder himself, he bears responsibility due to his tenure as the head of a Lebanese terrorist organization that was close to the “Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine”, and led to the death of the diplomats. The organization took responsibility for the murder, which was carried out as revenge for the involvement of the USA and Israel in the civil war in Lebanon.

PNAT (the French National Prosecutor’s Office for Terrorism) stated that Abdullah will be released on December 6 according to the court’s decision, on the condition that he leaves France and does not return to it.

In December 2013, the French town of Banyola voted to grant Abdullah “honorary resident” status. The city council’s proposal (which did not mention Abdullah’s role in Ray’s execution) described him as a “communist activist” and a “political prisoner” who “belongs to the Lebanese resistance movement” and is a “determined defender of the just Palestinian struggle.”
