Is Jannik Sinner happy to end up in Italian nativity scenes? Maybe yes, but not too much. The number 1 in world tennis, where the triumph at the ATP Finals, answers Fabio Fazio’s questions in connection with Che tempo che fa. The 23-year-old Italian ends an exceptional season, with first place in the ATP ranking and 8 titles under his belt. He is the sports personality of the year that is coming to an end. It’s no surprise, then, that Sinner’s fame extends far beyond courts and rackets. “Do you know that you are the most present figurine in the nativity scenes of San Gregorio Armeno in Naples?”, asks Fazio. The ‘record’ doesn’t seem to excite Sinner: “I couldn’t wait”, replies the South Tyrolean.

“This is a very special title, playing in Italy with the Italian public: I really wanted to do well. Last year we were very close to winning this trophy and we lost in the final, this year it’s a totally different feeling, winning in front of so many spectators is a great honor for me. Above all, a wonderful emotion, I want to thank you for the support and the public, especially when things aren’t going very well because I feel a lot of warmth and affection there”, says Sinner enjoying the victory.

“I’m pretty sure that at 23 you can’t be 100%, there are areas for improvement. It’s normal, no one at 23 was perfect, no one will be perfect. I have my team around me who pushes me a lot and I don’t see the “It’s time to start working again and try to do better. It will make me an even better player because if you want to keep this position you have to always improve, the work never stops.”
