Mahmoud Abbas announced who will get the job if he dies

The Palestinian news agency Maan reported that 89-year-old Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree outlining what would happen to his position if he died.

According to the decree, if his position “becomes vacant”, it will be temporarily filled by the chairman of the Palestinian Legislative Council, after which elections will be announced.

Currently, the post of head of the legislative council is occupied by 75-year-old Rauhi Fattouh.
