Young people and reading: “The difference between books and social networks is that we don’t come away frustrated”

On the occasion of the Children’s Book Fair which is being held from Wednesday in Montreuil, the writer Thibault Bérard, father of four children, analyzes the relationship of young people to reading – marked by a clear drop in reading time, noted the National Book Center in a study in spring 2024 — and gives advice to encourage adolescents and children to read.

The forty-year-old worked for fifteen years as a children’s editor at Sarbacane before becoming a writer. He is the author of several books, for adults and children, including the series “Léo and the orphans of Paris” (Ed. Albin Michel).
