Pioneers among those awarded with the Winged Goddess for the ‘Luigi Centri’

In the evocative setting of Palazzo Barnekow, a historic residence from the 13th century in the center of Anagni, the city of the Popes, the international Luigi Centri prize was awarded, now in its tenth edition. The Winged Goddess (work of the artist to whose memory the prize is dedicated) went to personalities who stood out for their professional qualities, civil commitment, valorisation of territories and attention to the weakest. For the continuity of a career conducted with particular sensitivity to the evolution of society and with the utmost respect for pluralism and users of the public service, the Director of GR Rai and Radiouno Francesco Pionati was awarded.

The other awards went to General Sandro Mariantoni – national president of Onaomce, the organization that takes care of the orphans of Italian soldiers – for his extremely high human qualities in managing such a delicate task; to Colonel Generoso Mele, Director of the officers’ club of the Italian Armed Forces, for having been able to combine, with grace and competence, innovation and traditional values; to the archaeologist and paleontologist Italo Biddittu, discoverer of the remains of homo Cepranensis, dating back more than 400 thousand years ago, found in 1994 between Frosinone and Ceprano, for the passion and perseverance demonstrated in his long research; to the director and producer Piero Borzacca, creator of the periodical Impronte, for having been able to combine art and valorisation of the territories; to the Brigallè musical group for their incessant commitment to rediscovering the cultural roots of popular music. The evening will be hosted by the TV presenter Monia Palmieri, the actor Maurizio Mattioli – protagonist of I Cesaroni – and Antonio Centra, nephew of Maestro Luigi and promoter of the event.
