Franz Wagner leads Orlando to victory in Philadelphia

Franz Wagner continues his strong performances in the NBA. The German basketball world champion scored 30 or more points in a North American league game for the seventh time this season. With 35 points, Wagner led his Orlando Magic to a 106:102 (53:53) away win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

The national basketball player scored ten points in the fourth quarter alone. Wagner hit each of his 10 free throws, the last two with three seconds left to decide the game after the Sixers came back.

“I try to bring consistency to my game. Without Paolo Banchero I have the opportunity to act more on the ball, which is also a challenge,” said Wagner about his next brilliant performance. Teammate Banchero, also a top performer, has been out injured since the end of October.

Franz’s brother Moritz Wagner had ten points and six rebounds, Tristan da Silva scored five points. The Magic consolidated third place in the Eastern Conference with their 16th win in their 24th game of the season.

Nets win, Schröder disappointed

Dennis Schröder also won with the Brooklyn Nets, although the playmaker was individually disappointed in the 99:90 (51:35) home win over the Indiana Pacers: Schröder scored four points, fewer than in any other game this season, and only scored two of his Eleven throws from the field and lost four turnovers. The fact that the Nets still achieved their first win after three previous defeats was largely thanks to Cameron Johnson, who stood out with 26 points.

The Los Angeles Lakers around superstar LeBron James are still not getting going. With a 93:134 (52:69) defeat at the Miami Heat, the Lakers suffered their heaviest defeat of the season and are only in ninth place in the Western Conference with a record of twelve wins and ten defeats. James scored 29 points, while his co-star Anthony Davis didn’t score more than eight points. The Heat presented themselves as a team: they set a team record with 42 assists.
