Rugby 7s: the magnificent last-second try that sends France to the final in Cape Town

Clearly, rugby sevens has become a powerful vector of emotion for France. After the summer masterpiece of the Olympic Games carried by Antoine Dupont, the Blues know how to play with suspense and thrill their supporters until the last second. For the second stage of the world circuit, in Cape Town (South Africa), the Tricolores faced Fiji in the semi-final. With only twenty-eight seconds left to play, the Fijians lead by five points (17-12). This is the moment chosen for a fantastic individual feat.

Starting from twenty-two meters, Simon Désert scores a try from the end of the world! With the strength of his powerful legs, he avoids several Fijian tackles. And rushes into the opposing goal after a race of almost eighty meters. The only slight downside was that the former Carcassonnais was pushed to the side of the goal by a Fijian. It therefore flattens into a corner. On the scoreboard, France is tied (17-17) and looks set to go into overtime. Because this essay on the mermaid seems almost impossible to transform.

But Enahemo Artaud, who took his time to adjust the transformation from the touchline, sends the ball between the posts. And the Blues are in the final of the Cape Town tournament. A major achievement for a team which proves that, even without Antoine Dupont, crowned best player in the world in this discipline, life remains magical with her. In the final, the Blues will face South Africa in front of their home crowd (6:11 p.m.).

Among the women, the French team, however, ended in the semi-final, beaten by New Zealand. Les Bleues will play the match for 3rd place against Australia (5:03 p.m.).
