Ligue 1: Nantes-Rennes was not interrupted despite a bomb threat

The 28,000 spectators at Nantes-Rennes this Sunday in Ligue 1 didn’t notice anything. However, at 6:43 p.m., while the two teams are tied on the score (0-0), the security service is in turmoil. According to Ouest-France, the Craiol (Institutional call reception center and logistics organization) of Nantes Métropole has just received a worrying call.

On the other end of the line, the man claiming to be close to Hamas claims that a bomb was planted in the Nantes compound. The director of Beaujoire immediately informed the authorities and decided not to interrupt the meeting.

A father and his son taken into police custody

The matter is taken very seriously by the national police who are beginning their investigations. Investigators were quick to trace the origin of the call coming from a landline. They are taken directly to accommodation in Paris in the 20th arrondissement.

The police immediately arrested the two men present at the scene: a 72-year-old man and his son. They are immediately taken into custody. The investigation is being carried out by the Paris prosecutor’s office, which will try to find out more about this matter. If found guilty, the two men face a sentence of six months’ imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros for “denunciation of an imaginary offense which could lead to useless research”.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, the Nantes residents jostled their neighbors Rennes and ended up winning with a score of 1-0 thanks to a goal from Moses Simon in the 89th minute. The Canaries can celebrate their first victory in ten matches and a final success against Montpellier (3-1) on August 31, without suspecting what was going on behind the scenes.
