Skeleton World Cup: Torn muscle fiber: Grotheer’s winning streak over

A torn muscle fiber in the adductor area ended Christopher Grotheer’s winning streak in the Skeleton World Cup. After four successes in the first four races, the 32-year-old had to skip the competition in Sigulda, Latvia and return home early. The Olympic champion sustained the injury during training. All attempts to still be able to start failed.

Without Grotheer, German Skeletoni had no success. In the women’s category, Hannah Neise took fourth place, 0.37 seconds behind, after Dutchwoman Kimberley Bos won, but retained her lead in the overall World Cup. The British Marcus Wyatt took victory in the men’s race and the top position in the overall World Cup. Felix Kiesinger was the best German in sixth place.
