Carrier Finnair pilots are on strike on Friday.
Finnair said previouslythat about 150 flights have been canceled from Friday. Finnair’s communications told STT on Thursday that more than 99 percent of customers have been rerouted to other flights. List canceled flights can be found on Finnair’s website.
According to Finnair, the stand-by ban imposed by the Finnish Commercial Pilots’ Association (SLL) on Finnair pilots also causes individual flight cancellations.
The last time the pilots went on strike was on Monday. SLL and the Service Sector Employers Palta representing Finnair have been negotiating a new collective agreement since August.
Avocado announced on Wednesday, that the parties will continue processing the labor dispute on Friday.
SLL refused on Wednesday, the national mediator Anu Sajavaaran settlement proposal. Palta would have accepted the proposal.
SLL said in its announcement on Wednesday that the entirety of the settlement proposal was not balanced. According to the union, key issues are still not discussed.
STT asked Finnair for information on pilots’ salaries. On Thursday, Finnair’s communications said that the company does not take a more specific position on the amount of the pilots’ salaries, but only says that the starting salary plus flight allowance is around 5,000 euros per month.
Palta also told STT that Finnair does not want to make more detailed salary information public. According to Palta, a pilot’s salary is influenced by, among other things, work experience, the type of plane being flown and the professional role, i.e. whether the plane is captain or co-pilot.
