Assad: "Syria is in the hands of terrorists". The escape to Mosca? "It wasn’t planned"

Syria is “now in the hands of terrorists” and Bashar Assad had no intention of leaving the country until the morning of December 8. The former Syrian president himself revealed this in a message published on the social page of the presidential office. “I did not leave my homeland in a planned way , as they try to make you believe. And I did not leave it in the last hours of the battle, I remained in Damascus, fulfilling my duties until the morning of December 8.”

Bashar al-Assad added that Moscow had requested his evacuation from a military base under attack. “Moscow requested an immediate evacuation to Russia on the evening of Sunday, December 8” after he moved to Latakia that same day, the former Syrian leader writes. “When the state falls into the hands of terrorism and the ability to make a meaningful contribution is lost, any position becomes purposeless,” the note reads.
