Success in Poland: Croatian students won a gold medal at the European ICPC competition

Young Croatian informaticists won first place at the Central European student competition – ICPC, which took place this weekend in Poland, thus they won a place in the finals of the world student ICPC competition, the Croatian Association of Informatics reported on Monday.

The competition was held from December 13 to 15 in the Polish city of Wroclaw, and 70 teams from 27 universities from eight Central European countries competed in programming tasks.

The gold medal was won by the team consisting of Toni Brajko, Dorijan Lendvaj and Patrick Pavić, students of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Zagreb. The team leader was Krešimir Malnar.

The Central European student ICPC competition is part of the worldwide network of regional competitions that gathers around 75 thousand students, from 3450 universities from 111 countries of the world.

With this result, Croatian informaticians secured a place in the European and finals of the world student ICPC competition.

In addition to the University of Zagreb team, Croatia was represented by teams from the University of Rijeka and the University of Pula. The students will return to Zagreb on Monday, using the regular Wroclaw-Zagreb bus route, HSI said.
