Vodka will become more expensive in Russia from the New Year

The Russian Ministry of Finance has published an order according to which, from January 1, 2025, prices for vodka and other alcoholic drinks with a strength of more than 28 degrees will be raised.

The minimum price of vodka in a 0.5-liter container will increase from 299 to 349 rubles, the cost of cognac will increase from 556 to 651 rubles. Brandy and products made from wine, grape, fruit, cognac, Calvados, whiskey and rum distillates will cost a minimum of 472 rubles. for a half liter bottle.

Discounts on retail alcohol sales will be prohibited. As Vedomosti writes, this provision is contained in the action plan for the implementation of the Concept of reducing alcohol consumption in Russia until 2030. The goal of the innovation is to reduce alcohol consumption and associated mortality, morbidity and disability.

The previous time retail prices for alcohol were increased was July 1, 2024. Then the minimum cost of a bottle of vodka was increased from 281 to 299 rubles.

On December 9, it became known that prices for cigarettes and other nicotine-containing products would increase starting in the new year. The minimum price of a pack of cigarettes will increase from 129 to 135 rubles. The price of vape liquid will also increase by 5%.
