NHL-legend Chris Pronger arrived unexpectedly in Finland. Pronger, 50, posted pictures of Helsinki with his family from Senate Square.
Pronger said that he was looking for his roots in Finland.
“It’s great to be in Finland during the holidays. I am here to learn more about my Finnish roots. I have a lot to explore,” he wrote to X.
I prong mother Eila is originally from Pori, but moved to Canada from there.
The Canadian told X that he was possibly interested in going to the Pori Aces game.
The defender legend has shown his half-Finnishness before, even though he represented the Maple Leafs in the national team.
When Pronger was elected to the NHL hall of honor in 2015, he remembered Finland in his acceptance speech.
“I also want to thank my grandparents, from whom I got my Finnish temperament,” Pronger said at the time.
Pronger won one Stanley Cup and two Olympic gold medals in his career. In addition, he won the men’s world championship and the junior world championship.
He is widely regarded as one of the best defensemen in NHL history.
