Trump criticizes Biden’s decision to commute 37 death sentences to prison sentences: “With me as president, we will become a nation of law and order again”

Donald Trump denounces current US President Joe Biden’s decision to commute the sentences of 37 death row inmates to prison terms, just weeks before the change of power. Trump writes this on his Truth Social platform.

“Joe Biden just commuted the death sentences of 37 of the worst murderers in our country. When you hear what they did, you won’t believe he did it,” the Republican wrote.

In a second post on the theme, Trump states that once he is president again, he will direct the Justice Department to vigorously implement the death penalty to “protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers and monsters. We will be a nation of law and order again!”

Trump is a staunch supporter of the death penalty. During his campaign, he called for expanding the death penalty, especially to immigrants convicted of murdering American citizens and to drug and human traffickers. Trump will take office as the new president of the United States on January 20, 2025.
