Davit Hakobyan, head of the Revenue Accounting and Collection Department of Yerevan Municipality, referring to the 2023 data of the Statistical Committee, said that there are 251 thousand 635 apartments in Yerevan, of which 52 thousand 641 are one-room apartments, 85 thousand 73 are two, 91 thousand 829 – 3, and 22 thousand 92 – 4 and more.

“On average, 1-3 people live in 1-room apartments with an area of ​​35 square meters, and more often it is the fact that 2 people live in them,” Hakobyan said It will increase by 50 drams, in the case of a 2-room apartment, it will cost 689 instead of 600, and a 3-room apartment will pay 900 instead. 975, and 4 or more rooms will pay AMD 1287 instead of AMD 1200.

“It’s all the same, it’s an increase in prices, it’s people who generate garbage, not the square meter. Why did you decide to count by square meters?” asked Hayk Grigoryan from the “National Progress” faction.

For example, if 1 person lives in a 70 square meter apartment and paid 200 drams per month for garbage collection, then from 2025 he will pay 910 drams according to the area (70×13).

“The principle of calculation by surface area is not new, because at the current rates, the garbage collection fee for public and industrial buildings is calculated according to the surface area,” Hakobyan said.

The garbage collection fee will also change for private residences.

Davit Hakobyan stressed that their surfaces are slightly larger and the number of residents is more, therefore the growth is even more. – “According to the calculation of one apartment, the average increase will be 80 drams, for individual houses – 180 drams. However, if, for example, 5 people lived in a 50 sq/m house, and they paid 1000 AMD, they will pay 650 AMD, and vice versa, in apartments where fewer people live, but occupy a larger living area, they will pay a little more. more.”
