10 victims of a 4-storey house fire in Tan Binh district have been discharged from the hospital, the three most seriously ill people have recovered well, and all have been given free hospital fees by Thong Nhat Hospital.
Receiving the leadership delegation of Tan Binh district on December 25, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Thanh, Director of Thong Nhat Hospital, said that many of these patients do not have insurance cards or their insurance cards are expired. Therefore, the hospital supports everyone’s medical expenses to partly share the difficulties and losses of everyone in the unfortunate incident.
The 3 most serious patients, including a 23-year-old man and two 23- and 24-year-old girls, were transferred from the Intensive Care Department to the Respiratory Medicine Department thanks to their good health progress. All three had respiratory failure due to asphyxiation, including two cases of CO poisoning and required mechanical ventilation.
According to Associate Professor Thanh, the hospital has mobilized human resources and equipment, distributing traffic to receive patients as quickly as possible. Most victims suffer from panic, fear, and worry about costs, so in addition to professional treatment, doctors must also provide mental reassurance.
Tan Binh district leaders presented a certificate of merit to the hospital. Ms. Thai Thi Lan Chi, Vice Chairwoman of Tan Binh District People’s Committee, highly appreciated the dedication and expertise of the doctors and nurses who saved patients’ lives.
The 4-story house that burned was divided into more than a dozen rooms, with motorbikes on the ground floor. Some people on the ground floor and first floor ran out through the main door before the fire broke out. Many people climbed over the railings of neighbors’ houses and the electronics store next door to escape. The fire caused two deaths.
