The FBI is looking into whether there is a connection between the Las Vegas bombing and the New Orleans attack.

According to an investigation into the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck near Donald Trump’s Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, fireworks, gasoline cans and camping fuel were connected to the detonation system controlled by the driver of the car.

The FBI is investigating a possible terrorist attack, and although at this point the investigation is inclined to believe that this is an isolated incident, a connection between this explosion and the car attack that occurred the day before in New Orleans cannot be ruled out. Both of these incidents are connected by the fact that both the pickup truck used by terrorist Shams al-Din Jabbar to run over people and the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded in the hotel parking lot were rented using the same Turo smartphone application.

The car bombing at the hotel was reported around 8:40 a.m. local time. Emergency responders arrived to find a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck engulfed in flames. The only person killed was the driver of the car, seven more people were injured from the explosion.

Surveillance footage showed that the car drove past the Trump Hotel about an hour before the explosion, then returned and stopped in front of the hotel, where it exploded a few seconds later. Police have identified the driver who rented the car, but have not yet released his name or details.

Tesla was actively involved in the investigation, for which Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill personally thanked Elon Musk. “The fact that it was a Tesla Cybertruck minimized the damage,” said McMahill. “The explosion occurred inside the parking area, with most of its power passing through the top of the vehicle.”

The sheriff said Elon Musk provided law enforcement with “a lot of information,” including sending videos from Tesla charging stations to help police track the driver. According to Sheriff McMahill, the use of the Turo car rental app by the New Orleans bomber and the driver of the cybertruck that exploded is nothing more than a coincidence.

Elon Musk himself sarcastically commented on the incident on his account on his social network X: “This evil idiot chose the wrong car for his terrorist attack. The Cybertruck contained the force of the explosion inside and directed the blast wave upward. Even the glass doors of the hotel lobby did not break.”
