The trial in the case of the former military and political leaders of Nagorno Karabakh will begin on January 17, reports the Azerbaijani APA agency, informing that there are 15 defendants in the case.

And another Azerbaijani media outlet 1news.az reports that on January 17 the preliminary trial in the case of the former president of Nagorno Karabakh Arayik Harutyunyan and the former minister of state Ruben Vardanyan will take place. On that day, it will be decided whether the trial will take place in an open or closed format.

Araik Harutyunyan and Ruben Vardanyan were charged with a number of serious articles. They face life imprisonment. Jared Genser, the international legal advisor of the Vardanyan family, stated that the accusations are fabricated and political.
