There was apparently a bloody clash between men from well-known clans in the south of Berlin’s Neuköllner district on Tuesday night. The Tagesspiegel learned this from someone familiar with the events. At least one man was injured in the Britz district. It is still unclear whether shots were fired.
An emergency doctor was called to the crime scene and heavily armed police surrounded the area. According to Tagesspiegel information, well-known heads of one of the large families that are commonly attributed to clan crime were still seen near the crime scene on Buschkrugallee. Because the perpetrators are apparently on the run and acts of revenge within the scene and attacks on officials cannot be ruled out, civilian investigators and police dogs are on duty.
In recent years there have been bloody feuds between well-known large families, particularly in Neukölln, Schöneberg and Charlottenburg. The center of the milieu is also various cities in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. Many of the suspects came from Lebanon and Turkey, some of them were recently deported there or left the country themselves.
The information above is vague and has not been officially confirmed. The public prosecutor’s office is expected to comment on details on Tuesday.

From a police perspective, clan crime is the commission of crimes by members of “isolated subcultures” of common origin, whereby the perpetrators are often related to each other. Even on “trivial occasions,” the clans provoked violent escalations, according to Berlin’s police report on the situation, and the patriarchal-hierarchical extended families were characterized by a “lack of willingness to integrate.”
According to the situation report, “influencing witnesses and victims through intimidation, threats or financial settlements” is of considerable importance in the context of “criminal structures of Arab origin”.
