Up to 450 km/h… China unveils the prototype of what could become the fastest TGV in the world

A new record broken. China unveiled the prototype of a high-speed train on December 29 that could become the fastest train in the world, CNN reported on Tuesday.

This model, the CR450, reached a test speed of 450 km/h and an operational speed of 400 km/h, the Chinese Ministry of Transport said. For comparison, French TGVs oscillate between 270 km/h and 320 km/h.

Until now, it was already a Chinese model that held the record for the fastest train in the world. This is the CR400, put into service in 2017. It travels at 350 km/h.

China has been considered one of the world leaders in railway development for several decades. China’s railway network extends over more than 160,000 km, including 46,000 km of high-speed lines, boasts the Chinese Ministry of Transport.
