UFC president joins Mark Zuckerberg’s board

Dana White president of UFC more than two decades ago, he was appointed as a new member of the board of Metaa technology and social media company founded by Mark Zuckerberg.

The announcement was made last Monday (6), by Zuckerberg himself, through his official profile on Facebook, the social network he created and started his technological empire.

“I’m excited to start the year with some news: Dana White, John Elkann and Charlie Songhurst are joining the Meta board. Dana has built (the UFC) into one of the most valuable sports companies in the world. I admire him as a businessman” , wrote the billionaire.

Dana White took over Ultimate in 2001, when the organization was on the brink of bankruptcy, and led it to growth that made it one of the most profitable and popular sports leagues in the world.

In his speech, Mark stated that the UFC president can help him with his vision for developing social networks and artificial intelligence tools, as well as other areas of Meta.

Subsequently, Dana White endorsed the announcement made by Mark Zuckerberg on social media and was excited to contribute to the growth of the Meta brand.

“I was never interested in joining a board of directors until I received the offer to join Meta’s board. I really believe that social media and AI are the future. I’m very excited to join this team,” he stated.

A possible partnership between Dana and Zuckerberg could be to use AI to update the UFC rankings; the president of the organization himself has expressed dissatisfaction several times with the changes made by the current model, which relies on voting by selected journalists and experts, and stated that he would like to start using technological resources to avoid errors.

The relationship between Dana and Mark was already good before this partnership; The owner of Facebook is an avowed fan of MMA and practices jiu-jitsu, in addition to being part of Alexander Volkanovski’s corner at UFC 298, in early 2024.
