Central Finland begins change negotiations

Media group Keskisuomalainen plans to centralize the folding of its paper magazines in five regional folding centers. They are located in Kuopio, Joensuu, Lahti, Jyväskylä and the Uusimaa region.

The group will start change negotiations, which may lead to the termination of a maximum of 19 employment relationships. There are 63 people involved in the change negotiations, and they concern not only skills but also the common services of Kaakko Viestinnä. Change negotiations can also lead to substantial changes in the terms of employment and employees’ tasks, work methods and the organization of work.

“These plans are part of a larger change, with which we strengthen the ability of our news media to operate in a digital operating environment. Centralizing the folding of paper magazines aims to improve the folding process and ensure the quality of the daily and weekly magazines,” said Keskisuomalainen’s Group CEO Vesa-Pekka Kangaskorpi in the bulletin.

Currently, the folding of the group’s paper magazines is partly centralized, partly decentralized. Centralization is planned to be implemented during the spring.

The Keskisuomalainen Group publishes a hundred different media in different parts of Finland and offers marketing communication, research, printing and distribution services. The group employs around 5,000 people in total, and its turnover in 2023 was a good 208 million euros.
