Surprising change in boss at SAP Austria

Change in leadership at the German software company SAP in Austria: Andreas Wagner (54) took over the reins at the beginning of January Christina Wilfinger (41) as Managing Director of SAP Austria.

Wagner, a native of Styria, is returning to his homeland from the SAP headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, as SAP announced in a press release on Wednesday.

Wagner has held management positions at SAP for 18 years and has played a key role in shaping company digitalization offerings, especially in the supply chain area. Most recently he was as global Chief Business Officer for digitized supply chains employed. In his new role, he will lead SAP’s Vienna branch and drive the digital transformation of Austrian companies.

Wilfinger is looking for a new challenge

The departure of Christina Wilfinger, who was the first woman to head the business software company since 2021, was at her own request, according to a KURIER query. Wilfinger has left SAP and wants to take on a new challenge. The IT manager previously worked for Microsoft in various functions for four years.

From DHL to SAP

Wagner took over after completing his master’s degree in commercial science at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and a few years Johnson & Johnson as controller and product manager for DHL the commercial management in Austria. He later headed change management in DHL customer service for Europe from Brussels.

In 2007, he moved to SAP, where, after several management roles, he was appointed Senior Vice President for Digital Supply Chains in Central and Eastern Europe in 2019. As global chief business officer, he was ultimately responsible for all end markets in this area.
