Fabio Cudicini, the former AC Milan and Roma goalkeeper, has died at the age of 89

Goodbye to Fabio Cudicini, better known as the “Black Spider”, historic former great goalkeeper of Roma and Milan who passed away at the age of 89.

Born in Trieste on 20 October 1935, Fabio Cudicini played for Udinese (three seasons), Roma (eight seasons) and Brescia (one) before joining Milan. In five seasons with the Rossoneri shirt he made 183 appearances and won a scudetto (1967-68), a European Cup (1968-69), an Intercontinental Cup (1969), a Cup Winners’ Cup and an Italian Cup. “Black Spider” was dubbed by the British press after two great performances in Glasgow and Manchester. With Roma, however, he had won an Italian Cup and a Fairs Cup, while he achieved salvation in Serie B, wearing the Brescia shirt throughout his long career.
