Aid to Ukraine on the agenda of the Ramstein meeting

Ukraine’s allies and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy will meet on Thursday at the US military airbase Ramstein in Germany to discuss continued support for Kiev in its war with Russia. Ramstein is the largest air base outside the United States and has hosted similar meetings since Russia invaded Ukraine nearly three years ago.

American Defense Minister Lloyd Austin invited defense ministers and senior military leaders from the member countries of the Ukrainian Contact Group to the conference.

As in the previous meetings in Ramstein, representatives of countries that are not members of NATO are also expected.

Russia has been waging a war of conquest against neighboring Ukraine since February 24, 2022. The West supports Kiev in its defense.

Ukrainian officials fear that US support for Ukraine could drop after the newly elected US President Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
