Discounter Aldi is starting a price offensive in our country. The supermarket chain will permanently reduce the price of more than a hundred products and increase its promotions.
Aldi also launched a major wave of price cuts last year. This year it concerns a wide range of house brands including dairy, cheeses, water and care products that are reducing in price. “We know that consumers are mainly looking for lower prices in those categories,” said Natalie Duthoy, Managing Director Procurement at Aldi.
The discounter will also offer more bulk promotions, such as 1 + 1 and other volume discounts.
Aldi says it can lower prices through greater efficiency and a smart purchasing policy.
According to the supermarket chain, a poll by iVOX on behalf of Aldi among a thousand Belgians shows that three quarters are concerned about their budget and want to make savings. The biggest budget concerns lie with supermarket spending, the poll shows. Families therefore want to buy promotional and private label products more often.
