Fingrid: The failure of Estlink 2 weakens the sufficiency of electricity on cold winter days

Finland and the failure of the electricity transmission connection between Estonia and Finland weakens the sufficiency of electricity on very cold and windless winter days, says the grid company Fingrid based on its updated assessment.

However, Fingrid expects that, in possible shortage situations, the price flexibility of electricity use will secure the sufficiency of electricity. According to the estimate, there will be no shortage of electricity if domestic power plants and transmission connections work normally.

The Estlink 2 electricity transmission connection was damaged on Christmas Day. The repair is estimated to last several months.
