Roberto Floreani is the Artist of the Year 2024 for Artuu Magazine

Roberto Floreani is the Artist of the Year 2024 for Artuu Magazine. The award, now in its second edition, brings to the podium the Italian artist who has had the most success during the year. Floreani is among the most relevant exponents of the new Italian abstract art.

The winner was announced on social media by the same online magazine that chronicles the world of contemporary art. More than 3 thousand votes received for this edition: second place Sara Forte, third place Nello Petrucci. Thirty artists participated in the contest, chosen by a jury made up of exponents of Italian art and criticism. But it was the readers who decided the winner by voting for their favorite.

Floreani is a scholar in particular of the history of Futurism, a writer, theorist and author of theatrical performances. The artist, who to date has held over ninety solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad, represented Italy at the Italian Pavilion of the 2009 Venice Biennale and was selected for the 2004 Rome Quadrennial. This year he curated the ‘Liberi di Sognare’ exhibition dedicated to Italian Pop and Beat in Vicenza. “But his most authentic vein remains that of the painter – underlines Artuu Magazine – in which he has achieved his own extremely synthetic and original style, mindful of the lesson of classical Italian abstractionism, which starts from the research of Balla’s Iridescent Compenetrations to establish itself in the Como abstractionism of the 1930s, to arrive at the development of his own exclusive and highly characterized, stratified material research, with the rigorous geometric definition of the reliefs, characterized by the authentic expressive signature of the Concentric. This year, Floreani inaugurated a new cycle of his work on the concept of the ‘Threshold'”.
