Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky published on his social networks photographs of North Korean soldiers captured in the Kursk region of Russia, partially occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“We are talking about two North Korean soldiers, one of whom was captured on January 9, 2025 by soldiers of tactical group No. 84 of the Special Operations Forces, and the other by paratroopers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Zelensky wrote.
The message from the President of Ukraine says that the captured Koreans were taken to Kyiv; they do not speak Russian or English, so communication with them takes place through Korean translators “in cooperation with South Korean intelligence,” writes the BBC.
It is reported that one of the prisoners had with him a Russian-style military ID issued in the name of another person registered in the Republic of Tuva, and the other was without documents.
