Roma save themselves in the 98th minute, 2-2 with Bologna

Roma grab the 2-2 at the Dall’Ara against Bologna at the last gasp: after the Giallorossi’s lead by Alexis Saelemaekers and the Rossoblù comeback signed by Thijs Dallinga and Lewis Ferguson on a penalty, it is Artem Dovbyk to score the final equalizer from eleven metres, after injury time. After an initial study phase, the home team carved out their first scoring opportunity in the 11th minute with a shot from a tight angle by Dallinga, which was deflected into a corner by Svilar. The pace of the match is good, but the scoring chances are lacking on both sides. In the 31st minute Roma’s first real opportunity arrived: following a corner, Paredes, following Dybala’s suggestion, let loose a good shot which was blocked by Skorupski; Dovbyk tries on the rebound, but the Polish goalkeeper isn’t surprised. Claudio Ranieri’s men picked up the pace and four minutes later tried to take advantage of a mistake by Lucumi’ to strike on the counterattack with Dybala, who however shot high over the crossbar.

At the end of the first half Dominguez becomes dangerous with a shot from a good position, but it only hits the outside of the net. In the second half the Giallorossi team appeared in the opponent’s half of the field and shot with Konè, but the ball went wide. Bologna responds by raising their center of gravity and pressing their opponents, but the Romans take the lead: in the 58th minute Konè serves Alexis Saelemaekers on the right, who scores the 1-0 from the edge of the area also thanks to an error Skorupski. There wasn’t even time to celebrate for Roma, who immediately replied by grabbing the equalizer in the 61st minute with Thijs Dallinga: a great counterattack triggered by Dominguez, who serves Ndoye, who in turn puts it in the middle for the Dutchman who scores the winning tap-in.

A few minutes later Vincenzo Italiano’s boys also won a penalty for a handball by Konè: Lewis Ferguson showed up from eleven meters out, returning to goal after his injury and putting his team ahead. The Emilians, with their advantage, try to attack on the counterattack but neither the newly substitute Orsolini nor Ferguson manage to find the 3-1. The Giallorossi team thus seeks the final assault and in injury time Lucumì commits a handball. Abisso, after a review on the monitor following a call from the VAR, awarded the penalty to Ranieri’s men: Artem Dovbyk, with extreme coolness, signed the final 2-2 in the 98th minute.
