“I would have liked to get back into business in Paris”: lack of accommodation despite a good salary, Madjid quits his job

“That’s enough, I’ve made my decision, I’m going back to Grenoble (Isère) this weekend. I can’t stay in limbo like that, nor can I spend another 3,000 euros on two more months of hotel accommodation. » Madjid, 50, just this week submitted his resignation to his employer, a management company located in the Paris region, after only ten days on a permanent contract.

No disappointment with his mission or the company, nor a priori disillusionment on the part of his superior towards him. No. “Just” one major problem: he can’t find accommodation. A situation which, even if Madjid’s company is not an SME, echoes the figures from the Confederation of SMEs (CPME) at the end of 2023 according to which 19% of recruitments fail due to difficulties in finding accommodation nearby.
