The installed capacity of the industry fell in November and broke the upward trend that it had had since last June

The use of installed capacity in the industry stands at 62.3% in Novembera level lower than that of the same month in 2023, which was 66.4% and also below the 63.2% that it had marked last October.

On the other hand, the sectoral blocks that are located below the general level are non-metallic mineral products (60.6%)publishing and printing (53.0%), metalworking except automotive (50.0%), textile products (48.2%), tobacco products (47.6%), and rubber and plastic products (46.8 %).

In November 2024, compared to the same month of 2023, The main negative impact is recorded in the basic metal industrieswhich present in the month under analysis a level of utilization of the installed capacity of 67.2%, lower than that registered in the same month of the previous year (79.4%).

In this sense, according to data from the Argentine Chamber of Steel, in November crude steel production presents a year-on-year drop of 18.1%.

Rubber and plastic products presented a level of utilization of installed capacity of 46.8% in November, lower than that registered in the same month of 2023 (56.8%), as a consequence of the lower levels of manufacturing of rubber products. plastic and tires.

Non-metallic mineral products registered a level of utilization of installed capacity of 60.6% in November, lower than that of the same month of 2023 (74.3%), as a result of the lower manufacture of cement, glass and other construction materials. According to data from the IPI manufacturing, the production of glass and glass products and the production of cement present year-on-year falls of 20.4% and 15.6%, respectively, in the month under analysis.

According to the Synthetic Indicator of Construction Activity (ISAC), construction activity presents an interannual decrease of 23.6% in the month under analysis.

The automotive industry shows a level of utilization of installed capacity of 64.7%lower than that of November 2023 (68.3%), related to the lower number of units manufactured by automotive terminals.

In November 2024, compared to the same month of 2023, food and beverage products show a positive impactwith a level of utilization of the installed capacity of 66.9%, higher than that registered in November of the previous year (65.2%), mainly due to greater milling of oilseeds.

In this sense, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (SAGyP), the production of soybean oil and byproducts presents an interannual increase of 81.1% in that month.
