Roma’s trio, with Genoa at the Olimpico ends 3-1

Roma return to success, after the draw with Bologna, and at the Olimpico they beat Genoa 3-1 in the first match of the 21st matchday of Serie A. El Shaarawy’s goal in the second half was decisive for the Giallorossi, as well as the own goal by Loyal after the goals from Dovbyk and Masini in the first half. Ranieri’s team thus rises to 27 points, momentarily overtaking Udinese, while Viera’s team, in their first away defeat with the French coach, remains stuck on 23 points.

Ranieri confirms Pellegrini from the 1st minute behind Dybala and Dovbyk with Paredes and Kone in midfield, Hummels still in defense with Mancini and N’Dicka. For the challenge, Vieira chooses Masini as director instead of Badelj. Zanoli and Miretti play alongside Pinamonti. Roma started well and in the 3rd minute Saelemakers came back on the left and attempted a shot which however ended well wide. In the 9th minute, a great opportunity for Roma with Dybala hitting the crossbar from a free kick. In the 25th minute Roma passed: splendid ball from Saelemakers for the insertion of Pellegrini who volleyed home: Leali rejected, but Dovbyk was faster than Bani and returned the ball into the net to make it 1-0 for the Giallorossi. The advantage, however, does not last long and in the 33rd minute Genoa equalises. Perfect cross from Miretti from a corner that finds Masini in the area who volleys it and beats Svilar to make it 1-1.

Roma also started well in the second half and were back in the lead in the 60th minute. Dybala finds El Shaarawy who unleashes a precise, low shot from the edge that beats an innocent Leali for 2-1, shortly after the Giallorossi protested for a penalty kick not awarded due to a handball. Genoa tries to react and discovers itself and Roma gets the hat trick: in the 73rd minute, a dramatic action by the Giallorossi with Dybala anticipating everyone and finishing towards the target with goalkeeper Leali who in an attempt to avoid the goal commits an own goal for the 3-1 and also on this occasion, shortly before, Roma asked for a penalty for a foul on El Shaarawy. Viera’s team no longer has any and Roma brings home an important success.
