Ice hockey: Draisaitl’s double isn’t enough: Oilers lose in NHL

A brace from Leon Draisaitl wasn’t enough for the Edmonton Oilers to secure their fifth win in a row in the NHL. The team lost 2:3 to the Vancouver Canucks. After a 3-0 deficit, Draisaitl tied the score with goals 32 and 33 of the season, but was unable to prevent the defeat.

Things went better for two other German NHL professionals. Tim Stützle scored his 15th goal of the season in the Ottawa Senators’ win against the Boston Bruins and also scored for his team in the penalty shootout. The Senators won 6:5. Lukas Reichel also scored in the Chicago Blackhawks’ 5-3 victory and ensured that the Oilers defended first place in the Pacific Division ahead of the Golden Knights despite their own defeat. For Las Vegas it was the fifth defeat from the last six games.
