WhatsApp is incorporating a button to enter songs in status updates, a feature that is now available to beta testers with the latest version of the application for iOS devices, which follows another for Android released a few days ago.
Status updates are ephemeral publications, whether images or videos, that last 24 hours and in which you can add ‘stickers’ and text, as well as use the pencil tool to draw on them.
A few days ago, WABetaInfo warned that The WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.2.5 incorporated a function to accompany these contents with musicby adding a musical note symbol at the top of the interface.
Now, it has been confirmed that this functionality, which has been integrated into Instagram and Facebook Stories for a long time, will also be part of the version of the ‘app’ for devices with the Android operating system.
In this case, this specialized portal has found that same icon in the latest update of the beta version of WhatsApp for terminals with OS iOS 25.1.10.73, which is available for testers through the Testflight program.
So when you add music to a photo, This will become a video that will last 15 seconds. On the other hand, if a video is shared in the status update, the music – which can be searched by song or artist – will adjust to the duration of the video.
It is worth remembering that the deployment of this button results from an agreement between Meta, WhatsApp developer, and Universal Music group (UMG) to bring the record label’s music archive to their platforms, as announced in August 2024.
