Harvard will pay compensation to Jewish students and will cooperate with the Israeli university

Harvard University officials announced a settlement of two lawsuits by Jewish student organizations that accused the elite university of promoting anti-Semitism since the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas in October 2023.

The deal includes monetary compensation without any admission of guilt on the part of the university (the amount of the payment was not disclosed) and the university’s adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism.

Harvard also pledged to post frequently asked questions about its policies on its website, report annually on its efforts to implement those policies for five years, hold anti-Semitism workshops for staff handling discrimination complaints, and establish a formal partnership with one from universities in Israel.
