The head of the Turkish Council for Foreign Economic Relations, Nail Olpak, said that Turkey could restore trade and economic relations with Israel if the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip becomes permanent.
Türkiye severed economic ties with Israel in 2024 in protest against the IDF’s military operation in Gaza. A few days ago, Israel and Hamas began implementing a phased agreement on the return of hostages and a ceasefire.
Olpak also reported difficulties with payment for goods supplied to Russia through Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. He didn’t go into detail. His statement means that Türkiye is circumventing the economic sanctions imposed on Russia.
