After Parc Astérix, the Musée d’Orsay victim of online ticketing fraud

The Musée d’Orsay in Paris was the victim on Friday of “fraud on mirror sites and the sale of fake tickets online” which forced it to deactivate its ticketing, it announced on Saturday.

Visitors who wanted to buy their tickets for this Parisian museum were sent to fake online ticket sales sites. The ticket office was working again on Saturday, it was specified.

Parc Astérix also targeted

The museum, alerted on Friday morning, filed a complaint and had to suspend its online ticketing for a few hours. On-site ticket sales remained available and the museum opened normally.

“To avoid this fraud, the establishment recommends that its visitors carefully check that they are on the following URLs: www.billetterie.musee-orsay.fr and www.musee-orsay.fr.”

At the start of the week, Parc Astérix had already announced that it was the victim of such fraud. Fake sites reproducing the official page of the amusement park have been regularly created since Christmas. These pages offer entry tickets for sale to Internet users. “They reserve their place, payment is made on PayPal, but there is nothing behind it, no ticket,” lamented the park which also filed a complaint. An investigation is underway to trace the source of this phishing.
