Jella Haase expresses her horror at the shift to the right in society

Actress Jella Haase (“Fack Ju Göhte”) used her acceptance speech at the Bavarian Film Prize to send a political message against the shift to the right in society. “I wish that Germany would wake up,” she said at the award ceremony in Munich’s Prinzregententheater. The shift to the right in German politics “takes my breath away, my heart skips a beat.”

“I defend myself from the depths of my heart”said Haase and spoke out “against the normalization and trivialization of right-wing attitudes” and against the “brutalization of interaction.”

She would like “politics to stop fomenting supposed enemy images”.said the 32-year-old, who was named best actress for her role as “Chantal in Wonderland” and received long applause and some standing ovations for her acceptance speech.
